Sign in and switch organizations

Create your account, set up your organization or join your team, sign in with email or Google, stay signed in safely and move between the organizations you belong to.

Slope works in your browser, on a computer or a phone. You sign in with your work email address and a password, or with your Google account.

Create your account

If a colleague invited you, open their invitation link and choose Create your account. Slope fills in the address you were invited at and skips the first choice. Once you confirm your address, your invitation is waiting under Your invitations. See Join from an invitation.

  1. Open Slope and choose Create an account.
  2. Choose what you are here to do:
    • Set up Slope for my organization if your site, research network or company is new to Slope. You will be its Owner.
    • Join my team if your colleagues already use Slope.
  3. Enter Your name and your Work email.
  4. Choose a Password of at least 8 characters, then choose Create account. Or choose Continue with Google to use your Google account instead of a password.
  5. If you used a password, Slope sends a confirmation link to your email. Open it to confirm your address. Until you do, Slope asks you to confirm your email first when you sign in.

Signing in never creates an organization by itself. Once your address is confirmed, Slope opens the step you chose. If you open the link in another browser, Slope asks again.

Set up your organization

  1. Under Name your organization, enter its name under Organization.
  2. Choose Create organization.

Slope creates the organization and makes you its Owner. Home then shows Get started, the first steps to set it up. See Home and the Get started checklist.

If people at your work email's domain already use Slope, and their organization lets people find it by domain, Slope says so: choose Ask to join instead? to ask to join their organization rather than starting a second one.

Join your team

Join your team shows every way in:

  • Your invitations: invitations to the address you signed in with, with the organization, role and who invited you. Choose Join to accept one: Slope opens the organization's Home. When an invitation is waiting, Slope opens Join your team first.
  • Organizations at your domain: organizations that let people with your work email's domain find them. Choose Ask to join next to yours.
  • Ask to join with a code: ask your organization's Owner for its join code, enter it under Join code and choose Ask to join. Capitals and dashes do not matter.
  • Have an invitation link?: paste the whole link you were sent and choose Open invitation. See Join from an invitation.

Asking to join gives you no access by itself. Your request shows under Your requests as Waiting for approval until an Owner or Site Director approves it with a role, or declines it. Once it is approved, sign in again or reload the page: Slope opens your organization's Home. You can Withdraw a request while it waits.

  1. Open Slope and enter your Work email and Password.
  2. Choose Sign in. Or choose Continue with Google and pick your Google account.

If you opened a page of Slope while signed out, you return to that page after signing in.

Forgot your password?

  1. On the sign-in page, choose Forgot password?.
  2. Enter your Work email and choose Send the reset link. If a Slope account uses that address, Slope emails it a link.
  3. Open the link from the email. Enter a New password of at least 8 characters, enter it again under Type it again, and choose Save password and sign in.

If Slope says the link is invalid or has expired, choose Ask for a new one.

Stay signed in safely

For security, Slope signs you out after 15 minutes without activity. A minute before, it asks Are you still there? Choose Stay signed in to keep working, or Sign out now.

Moving the mouse, typing, scrolling or touching the screen in any open Slope tab counts as activity. Closing the tab or putting the computer to sleep does not keep you signed in.

To sign out yourself, choose Sign out at the bottom of the sidebar. On a phone, open the menu first. Signing out ends your session in this browser only. Other devices stay signed in until they sign out or time out.

Switch organizations

You work in one organization at a time. Its name and your roles in it show at the bottom of the sidebar.

If you belong to more than one organization, the account panel at the bottom of the sidebar lists a Switch to button for each of the others. Choose one to switch: Slope opens that organization's Home. Signing out forgets the choice, and you start in your first organization next time.

An organization Slope has archived is no longer offered to switch to. If you are working in it, Slope shows Archived organization: you can still read it and download its reports, but nothing in it can be changed.

If you are not in an organization yet

Until you belong to an organization, every page of Slope leads back to the step you chose at sign-up, or to Welcome to Slope, for example after an invitation that could not be used. Choose Set up Slope for my organization or Join my team, as above. Each step also links to the other.

Get help

If you cannot get in with your email and password, use Continue with Google on the sign-in or sign-up page, with the Google account for your work email. It works even when Slope cannot send email to your address.

Once you are signed in, choose Send feedback in the sidebar to reach the Slope team, or ask your organization's Owner. See Send feedback to the Slope team.

You can read this article before you sign in, from Get help on the sign-in page.
